SPICE GIRLS ON END OF THE YEAR SHOW

An irreverent review of 1996 with a host of special guests stars, amongst them included the Spice Girls who sang Wannabe.

SAY YOU'LL BE THERE AUSTRALIAN RELEASE INFO

Well, our biggest video show Video Hits has played the "Say You'll Be There" video, and the word from the Virgin Camp in Australia is that the single is to be released on January 20, 1997.

WANNABE IN END OF YEAR CHARTS IN AUS

Wannabe is #5 in the end of year charts in Australia. It's also still #1 in the normal charts after 9 weeks!

Wannabe also went platinum in Australia (which is more than 70,000 copies) alright!

The Spice Girls hosted Top Of The Pops, and they sang all three of their released singles Wannabe, Say You'll Be There, and 2 Become 1!

After 8 weeks Wannabe is STILL #1 in the Aus charts!

SPICE GIRLS #1 AGAIN!!!!

The Spice Girls have knocked Dunblane's Knockin' On Heaven's Door off the No. 1 spot, and are now the UK Christmas No. 1 with their single 2 Become 1.

The Spice Girls appeared on Live & Kicking, they sang 2 Become 1, had a chat with Zoë Ball and with some of their fans in the studio and over the phone.

LAWSUIT DROPPED

The lawsuit brought against the Spice Girls by Israelean female singer, Idit Schectman is said to have been dropped due to the fact music experts reported that both songs were not sufficently similar for any legal action to be successful

SPICE GIRLS SUED

An Israelean female singer, Idit Schectman, is allegedly suing the Spice Girls because she thinks Say You'll Be There is based on her song, Come To Me, which was written two years ago.

WANNABE - 7 WEEKS AT #1 IN AUS

That's right folks - for the 7th week running Wannabe is #1 in Australia. Kick Ass!!

2 BECOME 1 RELEASED

The Spice Girls released their third single 2 Become 1 in the UK today, the MTV video consists of the girls singing in New York with the background consisting of cars moving at a fast speed, bare in mind that it was filmed in London!

Iron Lady Maggie Thatcher is the Spice Girls' fave woman of all time. "Thatcher was the first Spice Girl, the pioneer of our ideology - girl power," said Geri.

DES O'CONNER

The Spice Girls have appeared on Des O'Conner Tonight, they had a chat with Des O'Conner, and when asked upon, Emma admitted she was 20 years old. Other questions popped up like if they really do run down hotel corridors naked, Mel B, Emma and Geri said they did it first! It's a bit of a laugh as they put

it. When it comes to asking people out, sometimes it's done by proxy, or sometimes straight to the point, like Geri (slapping her lap) "come and sit on my knee!" Then they sang 2 Become 1 live.

WANNABE STILL #1 IN AUS

Can anything knock these girls off the #1 spot in Aus?? They've been #1 for 6 weeks!!

2 BECOME 1 RELEASE DATE CHANGED

The Spice Girls decided to release 2 Become 1 a week later instead. They said that it's so Dunblane's Knockin' On Heaven's Door can have a better chance of being the Christmas No. 1. (Ed - Very thoughtful) Anyway, it's going to be released on the 16th December.

The Spice Girls made an appearance on the BBC National Lottery, they sang 2 Become 1.

The Spice Girls are featured in the January issue of Dolly (Australia)

They are in the "Who's Hot" section this month with a pic and an introduction to the girls.

Try and grab it if you can, but if your budget doesn't allow, stick to Smash Hits or TV Hits for better value this month.

The Spice Girls are featured in the January issue of TV Hits (Australia)

There is a 2 page article, a poster (pictired) and the lyrics to "Say You'll Be There"

The article and pictures were done in September when the girls went to Paris. It is a great article with lots of pictures - including behind the scenes pics.

SPICE OF LIFE

This little snippet was in this weeks TV Week in Australia (from Molly Meldrum):

I was in London recently and, let me tell you, the Spice Girls are huge!

They beat Bananarama and Eternal to become the first all girl British group to top the UK charts.

And now they've done it twice.

The Spice Girls debut single, "Wannabe", topped the British charts for seven weeks, keeping both Robbie Williams and George Michael out of the number one spot.

And just as Wannabe went to #1 in Australia, the Spice Girls' second single, "Say You'll Be There", made it's debut at number one in the UK.

Their album, Spice, is now expected to ba a huge christmas seller.

The girls are hoping to come to Australia for a promotional tour in February.

The Spice Girls went to New York and had gone shopping mad! The week's long trip was to prepare themselves for the American media for when they release Wannabe at the start of 1997. There were interviews which resulted in waking up early in the morning.

SPICE GIRLS #1 IN AUSTRALIA

Yee hah! The Spice Girls knocked Donna Lewis with "I Love You Always Forever" off the top of the Aus charts this week and are now the new Australian #1 with Wannabe.

SPICE GIRLS KNOCKED OFF #1 SPOT

The Spice Girls Say You'll Be There was knocked off the UK No. 1 spot by Robson and Jerome's "What Becomes Of The Broken-hearted". A total of two weeks at No. 1.
