| SPICE GIRLS'
"STRIP-TEASE" GIVES C5 A HOT LAUNCH |
|
A Spice Girls
"Strip-Tease" for Channel 5,
which is launched tomorrow, is set to get
fans so excited extra security has been
drafted in - to protect 100 billboard
posters. The pop 5 have made a
video to kick off the new
|
| channel's
broadcasts on Easter weekend and will
feature in a colour-coded ad campaign. Each of the girls
wears a costume in one of Channel 5's
vivid brand colours.
When the
posters first go up, each girl will be
concealed behind a big stipe. But like a
countdown calendar, one will be removed
each day to reveal one of the group. TV
cheifs believe the sight of the stars
many feet high may be too much for some
fans. "We have set up security
patrols to guard some of the sites incase
fans try to steal the posters," A
Channel 5 spokesman said. "Heaven
knows what they would do with them - they
are a bit big to put on a bedroom
wall."
The
Spice Girls have recorded a version of
Manfred Mans 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, re-written 1,
2, 3, 4, 5, for the video. It will be the
first thing viewers see of Channel 5 on
Easter Sunday, March 30.
The
girls also recorded special individual
trailers for new Channel 5 programmes -
including Victoria getting drenched with
water to introduce Australian Drama
Sunset Beach.
The
Video was shot in an East End warehouse a
few weeks ago. The spokesman said
"The Girls were fantastic and worked
really hard. Channel 5 are thrilled to be
working with the Spice Girls. It must be
the first time such a successful group
has done something like this to launch a
broadcaster.
