| SPICE GIRLS MAKE
DEAL WITH PEPSI |
|
|
The Spice Girls
today announced a deal with Pepsi which
will see the girls give away their next
single for free and see competition
winners win tickets to the girls first
ever live concert in Istanbul, Turkey in
October. The Pepsi single will not
be sold in shops and will be available
only to fans who buy cans of the soft
drink next month.
Under
the deal, Pepsi will also fly 40, 000
fans to the Turkish capital Istanbul to
see the girls first-ever full live
concert.
All
tickets for the October show will be
free, but available only to Pepsi
drinkers.
|
| The
girls were at the launch today wearing
stunning Pepsi outfits they designed
themselves. They revealed the link-up
is their way of thanking fans who have
helped turn them into the worlds #1 pop
band.
Geri
said "They have made us a success.
The tie-up with Pepsi means we can give
them a free CD single AND the chance to
see our first-ever live concert."
The girls have only performed live on
American TV before.
The name
of the free single is under wrap, but the
stars' manager Simon Fuller confirmed:
"It will only be available to Pepsi
drinkers. Pepsi have given us the perfect
way to give the fans something for
free."
Unlike
the girls first 4 singles the new song
will not rocket to #1. Simon added
"Because we are giving it away we
don't think it will be allowed to be
included in the charts." The girls
have also filmed a TV ad for Pepsi,
screened for the first time tonight. It
features them performing their version of
the Pepsi theme Move Over.
The
girls are thought to have pocketed £1,
000, 000 for the ad, but No money will
change hands for the concert and CD deal.
Pepsi
will have to pay millions to fly fans to
Istanbul, making the promotion one of the
most ambitious ever. The offer is open to
fans in the UK & Turkey.
Spokesman
Simon Louden said: "We're thrilled
to get the Spice Girls on board in this
truly unique promotion.
