MEL'S BABY SHOPPING SPREE
Mel B has gushed about her impending pregnancy during a $5,000 ($6600 AUD) shopping spree for sexy underwear.

According to sales assistants in a top LA lingerie boutique, Scary Spice could not stop talking about her happy news as she splurged on Eres undies for herself and La Perla men's boxers for her beau Eddie Murphy on Saturday.

Mel admitted that carrying her second child has zapped her energy, but told salesgirls she is excited about being four months pregnant with the comic.

Sources revealed the shopping trip to US website TMZ.com.

The news comes amid rumors that the couple will marry next month.

Melanie Brown and Eddie Murphy have been dating for several months and recently took a romantic trip to Maui, staying in the exclusive Four Season resort.

A source told TMZ that Brown came into the hip Le Bra Lingerie boutique in West Hollywood over the weekend, shortly after returning from a trip to see her family in Leeds.

Brown, who has a 7-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi from a previous relationship with Jimmy Galzar, is a frequent shopper at the store.

According to TMZ, Brown even confided that she was concerned she may even be carrying twins since, since she said they run in Murphy's family.

While on her shopping spree, Melanie picked up nearly $5,000 worth of Eres lingerie for herself and about $300 worth of La Perla men's undershirts and underwear for Eddie.

In April, Murphy's divorce from his ex-wife Nicole became final.

The Dreamgirls star has five children with Nicole and another son from a previous relationship.

Murphy's spokesman said "We do not comment on Mr Murphy's personal life."

Melanie's representative was last night unavailable for comment.

Eddie, 45, and Mel were introduced at a party in Beverly Hills.

Last month, Eddie was the first of the pair to publicly confess to their love. He said after a dinner at Mr Chow in Beverly Hills: "I am madly in love with Mel but there are no wedding plans."

BABY SPICE #6?
MEL B's romance with Eddie Murphy took another twist yesterday when sources close to the couple claimed she was pregnant.

Pals of showbiz's odd couple said the baby was conceived almost as soon as their relationship began and the former Spice Girl is four months gone.

The couple are said to be delighted with the news and Mel "hasn't stopped grinning" since she found out.

She returned to Leeds last week to see her family and appeared to have a slight bump.

She is now back in Los Angeles amid rumours she is set to have the comedian's baby.

An LA source said yesterday: "People have heard she is about four months pregnant, which is about as long as their relationship has been going on.

"They seem delighted and Mel hasn't stopped grinning.

"The relationship is very strong. There is no ring on her finger yet but no one would be surprised if they got married without too much notice."

It will be Eddie's sixth child while Mel has a daughter, Phoenix Chi, seven, from her marriage to Jimmy Gulzar.

Mel, 31, and Jimmy divorced in 2001, while Eddie's wife Nicole Murphy divorced him earlier this year.

Eddie, 45, and Mel were introduced at a party in Beverly Hills.

Last month, Eddie was the first of the pair to publicly confess to their love.

He said: "I am madly in love with Mel but there are no wedding plans."

GERI STALKED
GERI HALLIWELL has reportedly informed police she is being stalked - and she is terrified for the sake of her five-month-old baby BLUEBELL. The flame-haired pop singer refused to comment on her visit to Albany Road police station near her
north London home this weekend (ends15OCT06), but a police insider confirmed she had reported her fears to officers. However, it is as yet unknown whether a formal complaint has been made. The police source says, "Geri believes she has a stalker and is absolutely terrified. "She has seen the same person following her several times and it is making her very jittery. "Officers had to calm her down. As a new mum it must be pretty frightening and she doesn't want to leave anything to chance - she is being ultra-cautious for the sake of baby Bluebell." The scare comes just weeks after the arrest of the nanny who previously looked after Bluebell, after the tot was found "bruised and bawling" after spending time in the childminder's care.

EMMA FEELS THE PRESSURE
FORMER Spice Girl Emma Bunton broke down in tears twice during training for TV's Strictly Come Dancing this week.

The 30-year-old singer, better known as Baby Spice, is joint favourite to win the BBC1 ballroom competition along with EastEnder Louise Lytton, 17.
But she sobbed to dance partner Darren Bennett that the public's high expectations have left her feeling totally overwhelmed.

She said: "Last Saturday, it was so nerve-racking I really didn't think it would be so bad. Now I know what's to come it's made it even worse."

Last week in the first show of the new series nine million viewers saw the six male dancers compete, with TV newsreader Nick Owen the first to be booted off.

But this Saturday it's the girls' turn, and Emma confessed that the pressure has made her feel physically sick.

Emma and the other female dancers - singer Mica Paris, Dead Ringers impressionist Jan Ravens, TV presenter Carol Smillie, Casualty's Georgina Bouzova and Bad Girls star Claire King - will dance a quickstep or a rumba.

Emma went in as the favourite after training as a dancer before joining the Spice Girls in 1996.

But she is terrified of letting people down. She told production staff that dancing with the girl band was more straightforward because the steps were easier and they had lots of time to practice.

Emma said: "I find it really flattering that people are being so positive, I just feel so much pressure now.

"I am just going to have to do my best. I've never done ballroom before, if they are expecting good stuff, I am going to give them good stuff."

But Emma, 30, admitted that she is desperate not to be the first girl to be voted off. She added: "If I get knocked out on Saturday I'll be devastated. I'll probably cry again."

But despite the pressure, she says that she's having "a great time". She said: "I've never done a live show - people are getting to see the real me."

Louisa, who plays Albert Square's Ruby Allen, is also finding it tough after bookies decided she could go all the way. She said: "I wasn't born to be a ballroom dancer. This is the hardest thing I've done in my life."

Ladbrokes have Emma and Louisa at 3/1, Carol 12/1, Claire 14/1, Georgina and Jan at 33/1 and Mica at 50/1

POSH PROVES SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER
Victoria Beckham has revealed the secret behind the title of her new book - and it isn't half rude.

The former Spice Girl got people guessing when she named her forthcoming style guide That Extra Half An Inch. Now she has revealed to Glamour magazine that she definitely intended it to have a double meaning.

"I meant with shoes. An extra half inch of heel makes all the difference to how you carry yourself," she said, before adding: "I guess you thought I was talking about penis size. But that extra half inch in a penis is nice too so, you know, it means both, really.

Victoria, 32, was interviewed with footballer husband David, 31, to promote their new his 'n' hers fragrance.

Former England captain David said Victoria has a very distinctive smell - of babies.

"It's amazing, actually. Especially first thing in the morning. I compare it to a baby," he said.

And he is equally fragrant - recalling a match where he swapped shirts with Brazilian player Robert Carlos, David told the magazine: "He turned round after changing with me and said it smelt unbelievable.

The Real Madrid star, recently dropped from the England squad, admitted he will find it difficult to adapt to life after football.

"It's going to be hard to beat the buzz of walking on to a pitch in front of 90,000 people," he said.

"I think it's going to be hard to get used to, but that's what my children and Victoria are for."

BECKHAMS TO LAUNCH US ONSLAUGHT
POSH and Becks are launching a massive double bid to take America by storm - and make mega-bucks.

The couple have decided their future lies in the States where both can give their careers a massive money-spinning boost.

They are already on the verge of buying their own £2million jet so they can make regular trips back to Britain with maximum convenience, security and privacy.

DAVID, said to currently make £12million a year, is considering signing a $100million deal through controversial billionaire Dome owner Philip Anschutz to play for the New York Red Bulls.

It would make him THE face of American soccer.

VICTORIA has won backing for her ambition to launch her own fashion show on US television and become the nation's top style icon.

A pal of the golden couple said: "They have set their sights on becoming American idols. Both are determined to make their dreams come true over in the States."

The People can reveal that former Spice Girl Posh, 32, and axed England skipper David, 31, intend to:

SEEK a luxury home in the exclusive Hamptons area outside New York and find the best schools for their three sons.

ACCEPT an offer from Hollywood pal Tom Cruise to help them make important movie and TV contacts in New York and Los Angeles.

BUY a Cessna Citation jet like one owned by golf superstar Tiger Woods, which carries up to eight passengers and has leather seats, DVD players and bar.

A spokesman for Becks confirmed yesterday: "A move of this kind in the future cannot be ruled out. There has always been interest in David from the States."

Sources close to Real Madrid star Beckham said he is "amazingly excited" about a move to America.

He has become increasingly friendly with mega-wealthy Anschuzt. The tycoon is determined to establish soccer as a top sport in the US and considers Becks the star most likely to help him succeed.

Anschutz sold his stake in the Red Bulls last year but still has strong links with the side. His AEG company is funding a £30million rebuilding of their stadium. AEG has also funded Becks' soccer schools at the Dome and in Los Angeles.

One source said: "David gets on amazingly well with Anschutz. There is a real mutual respect.

"David has made no secret of his love for America and is keen to become the face of soccer over there once his time with Real Madrid is over.

"There have been numerous false dawns over the launch of soccer in the States. But the comtion of Becks and a US business mastermind is irresistible."

Becks - just voted "most desirable breakfast companion " in a web poll of young women - has been asked to play at least one season with the Red Bulls to generate mass appeal for the sport.

A US business source said: "The plan is to turn him into a Captain America type figure. Becks's superstar status is very real." One of David's main sponsors, sports firm adidas, should welcome the move. They signed an £86million deal with the American Major League Soccer last year.

Even if a move to New York does not happen, Becks could play for Los Angeles Galaxy, a team owned by Anschutz.

The star's future at Real Madrid is looking less secure after the Spanish giants rejected a request for a rise on his £4 million-a-year salary. But David, who has been on the subs' bench recently, is still likely to be offered an extension to his current terms when his deal ends.

If he fails to secure a new contract he can talk to other clubs in January. A source said: "No one is expecting Becks to walk out of Real Madrid in January and start playing for the Red Bulls then.

"Ideally he would probably want another two seasons in Europe but even if advisers do secure him a new contract the truth is that his bid to crack America has already begun."

Posh and Becks love America so much they named first son Brooklyn after the New York borough where he was conceived in 1998.

Now former Spice Girls boss Simon Fuller is backing Victoria's bid to raise her profile spectacularly in the US.

Posh's ambition is to have her own fashion reality TV show. Fuller, who claims Posh has already had dozens of offers from US networks, confirmed he is negotiating with TV bosses.

Fuller, who created hit series Pop Idol, said: "It will be more serious than a reality show but will be entertaining because Victoria is so funny."

The 19 Entertainment chief has advised Posh to make herself seen in New York fashion circles over the next few months. Victoria recently joined the star-studded audience at New York fashion eek, appearing in a variety of eye-catching outfits.

She has already won deals to have her Rock n' Republic fashion range distributed in the States.

She said on a recent visit to America: "I'd just love to spend more time here. There are so many great opportunities." Our source said: "If things go as David and Victoria plan they will spend most of their time in the States and the children will go to school there.

"There is no shortage of good schools in and around New York."

The couple rate The Hamptons, on the eastern tip of Long Island, as a great place to live. Paul McCartney has a retreat there.

Posh and Becks might also buy property in Los Angeles. Explaining the couple's decision to buy a jet, the source said they would want to fly back regularly to stay at their Hertfordshire mansion.

Tom Cruise, who owns three jets, is believed to have put the Beckhams in touch with an aircraft dealer in Orlando, Florida.

They have been asked to submit a written offer of £2million to clinch the purchase of a Citation.

The source said: "They will never let go of their UK ties completely."

IS VICTORIA DONE WITH MUSIC?

Victoria Beckham says she is finished with music, turning her back on the industry that brought her fame and fortune.

Undoubtedly one of Britain's biggest celebrities, Beckham said while acting wasn't on the cards for the future, a career in fashion beckoned.

"I'm done with music and I'm never going to act," Beckham told Harper's Bazaar magazine.

"Fashion is what I love. I've dreamed of doing my own clothing line from even before I was a Spice Girl.

"Now I'm able to do what I love and I've found I'm really good at it."

Beckham, who designs handbags and jewellery, said she's already cut her teeth in the fashion industry, creating the perfect pair of jeans.

"I went to the factories and met the ladies who do the details and the men who rip and spray the fabric and worked closely with everyone to get the perfect fit.

"Elle Macpherson says they are the best jeans she's ever worn."

After selling 58 million records with the Spice Girls, the one formerly known as Posh said she was prepared to put her musical aspirations behind her.

"That's in the past. I was an okay singer and an okay dancer, and I had to work at it," she said.

Beckham was the last of the Spice Girls to embark on a solo career after the band dissolved, releasing a not-unsuccessful self-titled debut in 2001.

But she has since made an even bigger name for herself using just that - her name.

She and husband, former English soccer captain David Beckham, known as England's "golden couple", have a sunglasses line and his and hers perfumes.

There's also a book Beckham has co-written, a personal fashion and beauty guide, set for release this month.

Beckham said constant tabloid exposure - on her husband's alleged extramarital affairs, her weight and even her newly cropped haircut - had taken its toll on her self image and her family.

"We've had a fair amount of crap thrown at us, and it can be very upsetting," she said.

"I think we are a very strong family. We love each other to pieces. You work things out if you really love someone.

"It's easy to give up, and a lot of people do. But I look back now and see it has made me a stronger person."

She said years in the spotlight had given her enough of a taste of "celebritydom".

"Because of our fame, we have a lot of money and it's enabled me to do what I want in fashion.

"But do I wish I could be anonymous? Of course.

"I don't need to feed my ego that way any more.

"I don't like someone in a department store watching me buy my knickers and bras. But that's the way it is."
