Victoria Beckham says she is finished with music, turning her back on the industry that brought her fame and fortune.
Undoubtedly one of Britain's biggest celebrities, Beckham said while acting wasn't on the cards for the future, a career in fashion beckoned.
"I'm done with music and I'm never going to act," Beckham told Harper's Bazaar magazine.
"Fashion is what I love. I've dreamed of doing my own clothing line from even before I was a Spice Girl.
"Now I'm able to do what I love and I've found I'm really good at it."
Beckham, who designs handbags and jewellery, said she's already cut her teeth in the fashion industry, creating the perfect pair of jeans.
"I went to the factories and met the ladies who do the details and the men who rip and spray the fabric and worked closely with everyone to get the perfect fit.
"Elle Macpherson says they are the best jeans she's ever worn."
After selling 58 million records with the Spice Girls, the one formerly known as Posh said she was prepared to put her musical aspirations behind her.
"That's in the past. I was an okay singer and an okay dancer, and I had to work at it," she said.
Beckham was the last of the Spice Girls to embark on a solo career after the band dissolved, releasing a not-unsuccessful self-titled debut in 2001.
But she has since made an even bigger name for herself using just that - her name.
She and husband, former English soccer captain David Beckham, known as England's "golden couple", have a sunglasses line and his and hers perfumes.
There's also a book Beckham has co-written, a personal fashion and beauty guide, set for release this month.
Beckham said constant tabloid exposure - on her husband's alleged extramarital affairs, her weight and even her newly cropped haircut - had taken its toll on her self image and her family.
"We've had a fair amount of crap thrown at us, and it can be very upsetting," she said.
"I think we are a very strong family. We love each other to pieces. You work things out if you really love someone.
"It's easy to give up, and a lot of people do. But I look back now and see it has made me a stronger person."
She said years in the spotlight had given her enough of a taste of "celebritydom".
"Because of our fame, we have a lot of money and it's enabled me to do what I want in fashion.
"But do I wish I could be anonymous? Of course.
"I don't need to feed my ego that way any more.
"I don't like someone in a department store watching me buy my knickers and bras. But that's the way it is."

David and Victoria hope to win over a new audience and will star as themselves in the hit television series.
An insider told British newspaper Sunday Mirror, "Television bosses are quietly confident they'll agree to the offer because it'll make them even bigger stars across the world.
Some of the Neighbours cast will fly to Europe to film the special episodes which are expected to be filmed in Madrid and London.
The pair began dating three months ago and reportedly immediately fell madly in love.
Speaking at a business meeting at a Beverly Hills restaurant on Friday, Eddie declared, "I am madly in love with Mel - but there are no wedding plans."
The comedian divorced wife NICOLE in April after 13 years of marriage and five children.

She has teamed up with writer Hadley Freeman to produce the fashion bible, set for release in the autumn.
Victoria, 31, told the Mirror: "I've been working on this for six months. It's been a really hard secret to keep as I've been so excited about the whole project.
"I'm so glad people will know now, so I can finally talk about it."
In the hardback book - called That Extra Half an Inch - the mother-of-three interviews her favourite designers and gives her own tips on how to look stylish at all times.
A publishing insider said: "The book is going to be absolutely gorgeous with some of the best fashion shots ever produced.
"But it won't be the kind of publication that just sits on the offee table for show. It will be packed with practical advice".
The book will include a history of fashion and give tips on beauty and shopping from the former Spice Girl who designs the VB Rocks range for hip denim label Rock & Republic.
It is intended to be an indispensable guide for style-savvy women on a budget, with hints on how to get designer looks from the high street.
The source added: "Victoria's obviously a fan of pricey names like Cavalli and Dolce and Gabbana.
"But she still loves to get things from affordable stores as their clothes are often as on-trend as those that cost 10 times the price.
"If there's one thing Victoria's an expert on, it's fashion. She's never less than immaculately turned out, despite having three kids and a job. She's researched every aspect of the book thoroughly.
"Hadley is an expert in his field and he was surprised at how dedicated Victoria was to the project.
"The two have worked brilliantly together and that will really come through in the final product".
It won't be Victoria's first book-writing project, since she penned her - autobiography, Learning To Fly, in 2002.
That Extra Half an Inch will be published by Penguin.
It is described as an "accessible, usable and desirable book about fashion, beauty and style from one of the most famous and photographed women in the world".
